Latvia participates in the 1st European Film Festival “Ode to Joy: European CineFest San Francisco”
Ode to Joy: European CineFest San Francisco was the city’s first ever European Film Festival, a three-day cinematic journey across Europe’s cultures, languages, and emotions. Hosted by the EU Office in San Francisco in partnership with European Consulates and Cultural Institutes, the festival celebrated the joy of storytelling and the diversity of Europe on screen.
Northern California Latvian Association was thrilled to bring the world-renowned Latvian Golden Globe and Oscar Award-winning film FLOW (Straume) back to the big screen in San Francisco on November 9.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our Honorary Consul, Laura Ramanis and to Janus Films for generously supporting this screening.
The festival welcomed more than 1,000 attendees in total, with most screenings sold out! It was amazing to see so many people coming together to celebrate and experience the richness of European cinema with an amazing selection of movies from 9 different EU Member States. Our festival offered audiences a unique window into European culture!
